Beginning of a New Era
The struggle for women to gain equality throughout time has always been an on going conflict. Coming from when women could not own property for themselves, progressing to women taking over jobs during the war such as working as farmers or in manufacture factories. It had actually started in the late 1870's, where the 19th amendment was first introduced. It had claimed for the women's right to vote. Being a woman in that time, it meant many opportunities awaiting. The chance to gain something more than we were ever given before. Famous speakers supported this, such as Susan B. Anthony, the chairwoman of NAWSA, etc. This amendment was fought for over 40 years, eventually being ratified in the 1920's. Women across the country celebrated this glorious day, after having to endure long years of protesting with marches, rallies and having the told the greatest speeches in women's time. This amendment did not just allow women to vote, it became something so much bigger. This gave women the confidence to strive for more than just vote, but also to gain the same equality. This amendment paved the way for America's women. It altered and transformed our lives for the future.
